First off, let me thank all of the veterans of this Country whom have given their lives for the freedom and protection and sacrificed for the good of this Nation.  Whether they fought in World War II, Vietnam, Iraq or any other hell hole – they took their orders and did their job to the very end.

Opinions and reasons for these wars may very but the will of the men that was behind them hold strong as ever.  And while it may not be our job may to impose our beliefs on others, our soldiers will do their job and continue to serve the World.  I am so sorry you have had to endure the hardships you’ve had in the last 5 years and some odd months.  My heart goes out to you and your family.  Thank you for a job well done.

Hope everyone had a nice get together and/or cookout on Memorial Day.  I’m sun burnt so I’m off to aloe myself up and lay on cold sheets!

Night,

Lindsey

History is being made as we speak, Phoenix the Mars lander is sending back black and white photographs of the frozen land it has temporarily inhabited.  Courtesy of Nasa:
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/phoenix/main/

It will be digging and sampling pieces of the frozen land and transmitting data to send back to Earth to be analyzed by scientists.  The theory is that where there is water, there is life and if there’s frozen ice, there’s water.  It’s not so hard to believe that there could or could’ve been life on Mars.  How far the life has (had) evolved is the real question.  I can’t wait to see the pictures and read the news stories that will come from this.  The heavens will provide humans mysteries for years to come!

And… the new Indiana Jones movie was pretty good – different than what I expected, George Lucas definitely put his own spin on it.  It’s worth checking out.  ;)

Good night,

Lndz

**UPDATE 7/6/08**

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, I’m sure you’ve probably heard that the discovery of ice on Mars has been officially announced.  The real question will be, what compounds/minerals will scientists find in these samples of ice.  These samples will be baked (as well as tested with an onboard chemistry lab) to determine the age, formation and make-up of this newly discovered H20.  I’m eagerly awaiting the results as I’m sure the rest of the World is.  Go NASA!!  Below is a pic of the ice that started to melt after a couple of days of being exposed to Martian atmosphere.

I’ve stumbled across a new site (or new to me) called www.WorldWideTelescope.com An idea spawned from that brilliant little company we like to call Microsoft.  The download wasn’t half bad… took a minute or so.  And the concept is simply amazing.  You can be taken on guided tours by astronomers and educators from some of the country’s most famous observatories and planetariums.  You can choose to roam about on your own if you get bored with the tours, can zoom in close on Nebulas, a Snowflake Cluster, Messier 82 and many other interesting digital images.  It’s worth trying, even if you choose to delete the 2.6kb program afterwards.  If I can’t provide you with beautiful pictures today, damnit; another good site can!

Also…pictures taken with a lens a tad stronger than mine.

Good day all,

The Braves game was the best last night!  Even though the Braves lost 4-5 (they won today 5-2!) we had a blast.  They actually had my beer of choice, Smirnoff so I had plenty of good cheer to last me the game.  The seats were excellent, dugout tickets on aisle 116.  It was cool to be able to actually watch the game close up this time and see all the action right in your face.  A foul ball was just a few rows from hitting us… and I had a nice view of Chipper’s ass the whole night!  I added a new gallery w/ lots of pics from the game.  Make sure to check them out on my site before you leave.

Bonne nuit,

Lindsey

Hello all,

It’s been a long week but it is now Friday and the weekend has officially begun!  My Grandmother had spinal surgery at Piedmont hospital in Atlanta on Wednesday and I’m happy to report seems to be doing wonderful.  I’ve been visiting for the last couple of days and I have to say that Piedmont is a terrific hospital.  I’ve been very impressed with the care they’ve given my Grandmother and the courtesy they’ve given my family and I.  The tumor she had removed from her spine is called a schwannoma.

This particular type of tumor stems from the cells that help form the covering around nerves and the cells keep regenerating themselves because they believe they are being attacked, thus constructing itself into a mass or tumor.  Thank goodness, schwannomas are usually not cancerous.  The tumor they removed from her is non-malignant.  However, there is a great chance that any movement lost due to the tumor will be permanent.  She has lost some movement in her right hand but we are hopeful that therapy will help with this.

The picture below is Granny btw.  She really loves to party, poor thing will have to take it easy now… ;) My Grandma has never drank a day in her life but we love to tease her.   Doesn’t she look so cute?  She’d KILL me if she knew I put this on her but she is a good sport.  Bad photoshop job though I must admit, it’s from my early days.

Due to my busy schedule lately I have not had the opportunity to take many photographs but I will be back soon with some new material.  See you then!

I have added a new gallery tonight.  It’s from a nearby park that I visit at lunch during work, so nice to have a semi-private, quiet place to get away.  It’s still surronded by buildings but at least there’s a little wild life and greenery still left in the city.  I’ve been wanting to take the camera for some time now, just got around to it today while I was in that area shopping.  This is the same park where I always see the snakes.  I wish they were out today but unfortunately, they weren’t.  Maybe another time.  Check out the new pics and thanks for visiting!

Ciao,

Lindsey

Hello all,

That lovely little organization we like to call the “Government” has now partially reimbursed me for the money they’ve stolen from my check over the last year.  Or at least the local government… I think I will be going to check out some new filters today.  There’s an orange filter that helps pick out reds, oranges and greens and gives them higher contrast for black and white photos.  And then there’s a yellow filter that’s good for taking pictures of a blue sky, helps remove haze from the picture and excellent for b&w pictures.

I might be going to a Braves game soon and I can’t wait!  Haven’t been in a year or so and I’ve also never gotten drunk at a Braves game, I’m thinking new camera + booze = good time!  Plus, could you imagine the gorgeous close-ups of Chipper Jones and Tom Glavine?  The Braves 2008 May schedule is below for you Georgians who’d like to support your home town baseball team.

Thanks for stopping by and talk to you soon.

Lindsey
