I had a better day today… even though things are FAR from perfect.  I did what I said I was going to do and visited my beautiful city.  I posted a couple of pics here but if you wanna see the full gallery; click below.

I walked for miles down Peachtree street (got the blisters to prove it) and visited Piedmont Park.  I didn’t go to Centennial Park b/c they were having some sort of cheesy college football convention and I didn’t want to end up in the middle of that mess today.  So I steered clear of that and went to Piedmont instead.  It was so nice out today, beautiful blue sky and lots of fluffy little clouds hanging around.  I stopped on Peachtree at this cute little brewery (see pics below) and had a nice brunch, couple glasses of wine and what the restaurant titled their “Hangover Pizza.”  It was a gourmet type pizza with red peppers, big pieces of sausage, scrambled eggs and lightly drizzled with some type of cheese on a yummy crust.

Well, there’s my city.  I hope everyone enjoys the sights.
Good night,
Lindsey

p.s. Yes J, my city is full of art!

I’m depressed/bored and by myself so I decided to write.  I haven’t done that in so long and it is really helping.  Hope you like.

My heart is mine

My heart is mine; I cannot give
For it’s not guaranteed to be returned

I do not trust myself enough
to let out all my love.

Still it grows and grows all this while,
If I do not release it soon…

I’m sure it will explode.

The little plane

The little plane up in the sky
It holds many people from all walks of life,
There are old and young; rich and poor;
Some are happy and some are dead.

Some travel to be with a love
Some travel to visit a land
Some are on a mission to work
Others are just there.

Can that little plane really carry all those people?

Yes it can, it’s very beautiful.

Oh to be

Oh to be a fish in the sea
I’d be an orange one, that would be me!

I’d frolic and swim
I’d have the best old times.

Those orange fish, they sure live the life.

Oh to be a bird up high.
I’d be a blue one, that would be me!

I’d spread my wings

And take flight.

Those blue birds, they sure live the life.
But the best animal to be… a turtle!

He can cherish those moments unlike any other.
He has all the time in the World it seems.

Those turtles, they sure live the life.

Box

My mind is locked inside this box
You will not let it go.

And even though I ask and beg
You will not let it go.

Sometimes it gets so curious
It just has to have a peek.

To peer beyond that curtain
That hides the lovely window

The things that go on outside
It looks like such a joy.

But to play it safe and go risk-free
You’ll always be inside this box with me.

Bye.

Today after lunch, I was feeling very blue and out of nowhere; a friend approaches me with a small bag.  She hands it to me and inside is a beautiful little angel with long, braided, brown hair.  I couldn’t help but to bust into tears… I don’t claim to be a religious person but I felt like someone sent me that angel for a reason.  Someone other than the sweet lady that gave it to me.  They must know I really need it.

Thanks for my angel, I love her.

Do you ever feel like you fall into one of those ruts where no matter how hard you think, you can’t seem to conjure up enough creative energy to write about anything whatsoever?  I could go on about some random story or feeling but instead I write about how I can’t think of anything to write about.  What an ass.

This weekend I’m going to drive to Atlanta all by my lonesome and just walk the streets of my favorite city and take pictures of some of those beautiful buildings I’ve spent most of life adoring.  I don’t know why I haven’t done this yet with the SLR…such a simple idea.  Maybe hit up Centennial Olympic park.  I really look forward to those little moments in life, just exploring and capturing that time to share with the world.  It’s so much more meaningful to me than an elaborately planned day.  And the relaxation is definetly welcomed this week.  I’ll be posting the pics to the gallery so check back to see them.

Well, I’m out.  My creative juices are running low for the day, gotta refuel.

Linds

It’s Monday night, I’m home after a long day of work and really don’t feel like cooking.  Hmmm… how about something easy, quick and cheap?  Within 5 miles of my home, I have a choice of McDonald’s (2 of them!), Taco Bell, Burger King, Wendy’s, KFC, Arby’s, Pizza Hut… you get the point.  This place is a mecca for grease, cheese and fat!

We wonder why we have such problems losing weight.  Why that extra 10-20 lbs just will not shed off.  Perhaps it’s the way us Americans make it ok to eat this way.  Why, even the kids meal comes with soda, fries and a burger.  I’m not sure about everyone else but my mom made me eat ALL of my veggies before I could leave the table; and trust me, there was a few nights spent nodding off at the table!  Nonetheless, we ate healthy food and rarely got junk.  A bag of Doritos or pizza was a treat, up until we were teenagers and could manage to wrangle up our own choices.

After years of eating junk and the majority of my fluid intake being coke or something ridiculously sweet, I’ve decided to give it up for good.  I’m gonna go with good old natural water (working on my diet) and God knows I will not give up my occasional Redbull and/or vodka! ;)  But for the most part, I’m gonna stick with it.  I’ve really improved my diet lately and the results are showing.  It’s nice to work hard for something and see progress.

If I ever do decide to have children, I want them to know how to live healthy and strong.  I don’t want them to grow up the like majority of kids you see now a days, living off ice cream, candy bars and soda.  It’s not natural and our bodies aren’t used to processing all of this crap.  Does diabetes, heart disease, circulatory problems, joint pain and high blood pressure sound like a fun future?  I’m gonna go with no.

P.s. Eating this way (good way) will get you abs of steel.  See my example below, lol.  Please don’t hate, you too can have abs like these!  Maybe I will put my secrets on Ebay for the low, low price of $25 a pop.

The Golden Boy!  I hope you have your eyes on this guy because he is about to make history.  I’m sure everyone has heard about the young Olympian who intends on setting yet another world record (a pretty big one!), winning the most Gold medals in Olympic history.  Yesterday I watched him win his first Gold for the 08 games in Beijing and he looked magnificent in the water.  Thank God for high def.  His family was there to support him and after he won, all he could do was scan the crowd for them; what a sweetie.  I really hope this guy goes all the way, he’s already made the United States proud.  He seems like a genuine person and a dedicated athlete.  He inspired me enough to get my ass off the couch and to the gym to get my swim on.  He even had me so flustered, I forgot my towel and had to dry off under the hand dryer.  Oopsy!  The trainers got a kick out of it at least.

There’s just something about swimming I love… the freedom of being in the water, the virtual weightlessness.  It’s like flying just without the height.  I grew up on a lake so every summer my brother, cousin and friends would hit the water.  We would dive off our dock, play in canoes, John Boats, snorkel and all sorts of other exciting activities.  Those really were the days… not a worry except who all was coming over that day to have fun with us!  And maybe the occasional thought of what was for lunch?

Please check out his site if you get time:

Tune in tonight to see him win again!!  Schedule below:

Also, another team member to keep an eye on is Lochte. He kept up nicely yesterday during that 400 m individual medley.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone,

Lindsey

**Update Aug. 13, 08**

He did it!  He has officially broken the world record for the highest decorated Olympian in history!
Congratulations, you’re a living work of art.

One day while surfing the net, I get an email from a friend with pictures and a short description of this magnificent dining experience.  I thought, this is so photoshopped so I Googled it and came across www.dinnerinthesky.com  This has to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen in awhile.  Maybe I’m behind on the times here; this is simply amazing!  I think I’d have to have a glass of wine or three while up there but wow, what an experience that would be.

A gorgeous view, something that very few people have experienced and fine dining.  Whatever guy takes his woman on a date here is most likely getting laid.  The table holds roughly 22 guests and 5 staff.  The crane will usually carry you a maximum of 50 meters (164 feet) up in the air not to mention your seat has a 180° rotation.  If you notice in some of the below pictures, there is even a separate platform available for a piano and other instruments.  And while this seems to be an extremely marketable idea, it seems very simple.  A crane, table, food, booze and people.  You couldn’t ask for a better time.  Just pray the crane operator isn’t on drugs or just having a bad day!

For as long as I can remember, he was the voice of my team.  The guy that announced, “Braves win, Braves win, Braves win!”  as they went on to dominate 14 consecutive division titles, played in the World Series 5 times during the 90’s and took the title in 95.  Sadly, Skip Carey passed away in his home on Sunday night; in his sleep.  He will be missed and my thoughts are with his family.  Thanks for the memories and it sure was a good run!

Well, it’s Sunday afternoon and I must say I had a busy but exciting weekend.  Friday I went and rode my bike down some trails, it was still muddy from the rain earlier and I made sure to get covered in it… the only way to really have fun mountain biking!  Saturday Brian and I got up early to go see the Louvre exhibit at The High Museum of Art in Atlanta.  I really enjoyed the visit but was disappointed when I learned we weren’t allowed to take photography of the “traveling” pieces.  This also included “The History Remixed” gallery, which was eye opening; especially more so to the younger generations I believe.

After a trip to the museum and lunch, I headed off to a Braves game with my girl.  We got a couple of beers and staggered around the stadium the entire time (which was way better than watching the game btw!) and had a gorgeous view of Atlanta from atop the stadium in these HUGE red and white lawn chairs.  Next time I will make sure to wear shorts, Georgia summers aren’t playing around.

This was our view and a couple more:

Chillaxing

The big red chairs were awesome!

See our lil’ Gold capitol shining in the sun?
