I had an AMAZING time today!  We went and did the zip line tour in Banning, GA and it is still unbeknown to me why it doesn’t get more attention.  The leaves were gorgeous and the weather was perfect, not too hot; not too cold.  Our group consisted of about 10 individuals, all of whom were extremely nice and eager to slide down the lines…with the exception of one lady whom chickened out!  But all in all, I had a blast and can’t wait to go back and do the “Big Daddy” line.  Which is supposedly over half a mile long and you can reach speeds of up to 60 mph, all while harnessed to a tiny cable hundreds of feet above lovely GA pines.  I got plenty of pics, please check out my gallery below:

You’ll have to excuse the helmet hair…

The funniest thing happened, if you don’t get enough speed up you will stop short of your platform and be stuck out on the line.  WELL, while riding the last line I didn’t quite get up enough speed to make it to my platform, so I got stuck naturally.  When you get stuck, you have to turn around backwards and use your arms to pull yourself to the platform.  Our entire group had went and I was the next to the last person to go so I had an audience… my pants are falling down and I’m mooning the entire group while pulling myself up.  It was hilarious!  My harness is going up my ass and I’m so scared I’m going to start sliding back down.  The guide was helpful though and he said I pulled it off beautifully- hold the applause please.  ;) He just liked the crack shot!  I’m happy to announce, I got up and that story ended well.

What a beautiful day!  I woke up nice and early and drove to visit the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic Site.  I’ve never been and have always wanted to go so I made a point to dedicate my day to visiting.  And I’m so glad I did.  The place was gorgeous and I learned so much.

I’d have to say some of the most touching parts of the museum was when you got to actually view some of his personal items, such as his favorite cologne, his cuff links and the robe he wore as a Preacher.  It may sound crazy but to me it made him seem more real than ever.  He was a flesh and bone human being; before this point he seemed to be larger than life.  But those small little items really showed me that he was ultimately human just like the rest of us.  And for a moment I felt like I connected with his soul, his deep passion for human rights and equality.  My eyes welled up as I viewed photographs of the birth of his first child to his wife holding their little girl at his funeral.  I thoroughly enjoyed reading Coretta’s letter about the Vietnam War she gave at Madison Square Garden and how she disagreed with it.  Standing in front of Ebenezer Baptist Church seemed surreal.  There was a little yellow butterfly that swarmed around for a few minutes before he jetted off towards a flower.

I’m so glad I FINALLY visited and would recommend this as a #1 destination if you’re ever in Atlanta.  This is our history and we should be proud of this man, he fought for freedom, equality and rights for EVERYONE.  We owe him so much.  He fulfilled his destiny and made the World a better place to live.

An old sign for the site…notice the bullet holes at the bottom of the sign.

A fitting departure…

I was having a conversation with my boss the other day about our “bucket lists” or things we’d like to do before we die.  He asked me what mine was and I named a few but I thought it would be cool if I actually sat down and compiled a list of these ideas that have been aimlessly floating in my head for the last 24.9 years.  Here are some, in no particular order:

  • Sky dive
  • Scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef
  • Hang glide
  • Explore a rainforest
  • Ride a horse full speed through a green field
  • Fall head over heels in love with someone
  • Become a mother
  • Live in another state for at least a year
  • Hike to Machu Picchu
  • Give a hitch hiker a ride
  • Bet $1,000 on 1 hand of Black Jack
  • Get a tattoo
  • Hug a stranger
  • Cry for absolutely no reason
  • Have wild, passionate sex in a public restroom or dressing room
  • Drink an entire bottle of 1983 Piero Antinori Tignanello wine; all by myself!
  • Write a book

4 down, 13 to go! Perhaps I’ll come back and mark them off as I do them…

I also added a new gallery today.  I strolled around Lake Lanier and got some decent pictures from the shore lines and from Buford Dam.  Click below to view:

What’s your bucket list?  I would advise getting one, it’ll make life more interesting.

Adios,

Lindsey

I had a better day today… even though things are FAR from perfect.  I did what I said I was going to do and visited my beautiful city.  I posted a couple of pics here but if you wanna see the full gallery; click below.

I walked for miles down Peachtree street (got the blisters to prove it) and visited Piedmont Park.  I didn’t go to Centennial Park b/c they were having some sort of cheesy college football convention and I didn’t want to end up in the middle of that mess today.  So I steered clear of that and went to Piedmont instead.  It was so nice out today, beautiful blue sky and lots of fluffy little clouds hanging around.  I stopped on Peachtree at this cute little brewery (see pics below) and had a nice brunch, couple glasses of wine and what the restaurant titled their “Hangover Pizza.”  It was a gourmet type pizza with red peppers, big pieces of sausage, scrambled eggs and lightly drizzled with some type of cheese on a yummy crust.

Well, there’s my city.  I hope everyone enjoys the sights.
Good night,
Lindsey

p.s. Yes J, my city is full of art!

Well, it’s Sunday afternoon and I must say I had a busy but exciting weekend.  Friday I went and rode my bike down some trails, it was still muddy from the rain earlier and I made sure to get covered in it… the only way to really have fun mountain biking!  Saturday Brian and I got up early to go see the Louvre exhibit at The High Museum of Art in Atlanta.  I really enjoyed the visit but was disappointed when I learned we weren’t allowed to take photography of the “traveling” pieces.  This also included “The History Remixed” gallery, which was eye opening; especially more so to the younger generations I believe.

After a trip to the museum and lunch, I headed off to a Braves game with my girl.  We got a couple of beers and staggered around the stadium the entire time (which was way better than watching the game btw!) and had a gorgeous view of Atlanta from atop the stadium in these HUGE red and white lawn chairs.  Next time I will make sure to wear shorts, Georgia summers aren’t playing around.

This was our view and a couple more:

July 11, 1804 Aaron Burr; vice president, shoots Alexander Hamilton in a duel outside of Weehawken, New Jersey.  Hamilton died the next day.  There’s varying stories that lean in favor to each party (Hamilton’s people proclaimed he decided he did not want to duel and shot a round into the air but Burr’s witnesses claimed he was just a bad aim; he actually shot at Burr but missed.   The fact of the matter was, Burr shot Hamilton in the stomach and the bullet lodged near his spine.  *Ouch*  Thus resulting in a tragic ending to a brilliant political career.  How’s that for politics?  And we dare complain about a blowjob in the oval office.

**Gallery Update**  I have added a couple of new galleries to my website.  You can find them here:

Brian and I ended up visiting Helen, GA for the 4th of July due to last minute planning but it was a gorgeous day and the veal sausage, German beer, & sauerkraut were excellent.  We swung by Mall of GA for fireworks and headed to mi casa.  If you live in N. GA, it’s a cute city to visit.  I wouldn’t stay longer than a day, you will run out of things to do!  Make sure you bring a bikini (men get our your speedos) and hiking shoes.

Have a terrific weekend!

Lindsey

Hello all,

I had a lovely day today, I visited the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and this place is a gorgeous location (perfect for weddings) set on the back side of Piedmont Park.  It’s not a huge area but has several gardens with different types of plants from several locations around the World.  It also features a couple of huge green house type areas where the temperature can be controlled.  A few rooms feature a.c. which is extremely nice, especially when these GA temps can hit 90 degrees around 1 pm.  ;)   There’s also a few rooms that replicate dessert and hot, humid jungle temps so beware.  Bring water and try to go early to avoid the worst heat.  There’s statues and moving structures around the grounds.  I enjoyed the balls that would move on a silver platter when you made noise.  A little girl kept singing the entire time and the balls were moving all around the platter.

There is a new gallery of pictures from my visit to the Gardens.  Please feel free to check them out at: http://www.lindseydawnsphotography.com/Galleries/Galleries.html
Hope you enjoy!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and good night.

Good day all,

The Braves game was the best last night!  Even though the Braves lost 4-5 (they won today 5-2!) we had a blast.  They actually had my beer of choice, Smirnoff so I had plenty of good cheer to last me the game.  The seats were excellent, dugout tickets on aisle 116.  It was cool to be able to actually watch the game close up this time and see all the action right in your face.  A foul ball was just a few rows from hitting us… and I had a nice view of Chipper’s ass the whole night!  I added a new gallery w/ lots of pics from the game.  Make sure to check them out on my site before you leave.

Bonne nuit,

Lindsey

I have added a new gallery tonight.  It’s from a nearby park that I visit at lunch during work, so nice to have a semi-private, quiet place to get away.  It’s still surronded by buildings but at least there’s a little wild life and greenery still left in the city.  I’ve been wanting to take the camera for some time now, just got around to it today while I was in that area shopping.  This is the same park where I always see the snakes.  I wish they were out today but unfortunately, they weren’t.  Maybe another time.  Check out the new pics and thanks for visiting!

Ciao,

Lindsey

Good evening,

You now have the pleasure of viewing the newest edition, Stone Mountain part 2 under the galleries section and my new blog. A co-worker showed me the different templates on wordpress vs. blogger.com and I was impressed.  So I made the switch… thank goodness I hadn’t gotten very far in my old blog, only 3 entries.  So the switch is pain free.  I decided to spend an entire day with just me and the camera. I hiked the mountain and took some shots from the top and as I was ascending. It was a beautiful, sunny day but the wind was kinda strong. It did make for great photography because there weren’t many people out that day. They even closed the lift due to high winds. All in all, they aren’t too bad. Please check them out!

Have a lovely afternoon everyone…

Lindsey

p.s. I got a couple shots of some snakes at the park – the pics were taken on my cell phone but hey, they’re snake pictures. I risked my life to get them!! <— such an over exaggerator! But I still need to get them off my phone and tomorrow, I will do just that.  Maybe I’ll go back w/ the Nikon sometime this weekend and try to catch some decent pics of them.  I feel like the Crocodile Hunter.  Eh Mate!  G’ night all.
