Hola amigos!! Well I’ve made it through 6 real estate classes and Halloween successfully. I say that deserves a thumbs up. Halloween was GREAT! I was an Indian and had to dress up on 3 separate occasions, 2 parties and once at work.  But it was sooo much fun! And we looked fantastic.

We saw the Ghastly Dreadfuls again this Halloween and it was virtually the same as last year except they changed one scene at the very end. During one of the scenes, the actors started dancing and playing some kind of Mexican samba song and a guy puts his hand out to me to dance on stage with them! I shook my butt and danced with the troop (with the help of a little liquid courage) while J cracked up in the audience. It was hilarious and the best time!  I really love that show.

A few cell phone pics from the show… One of the band and another shot I thought was cool of this creepy rocking horse on stage during intermission.

I have some really good pics at home (I’m at work now), some involving me passed out drunk on an air mattress, another Indian, Santa, Demon Lady and a black lab.  ;)   Fun fun!  I MAY post one of those… we’ll see.

So we’re almost half way through our real estate course, Thanksgiving is coming up soon and everything’s going good. I’m a very lucky girl. Just hope the outsourcing Gods are kind to me and I can keep my job a lil’ longer… See ya later!

Dear Diary,

 Today I got my period and cried over little Jimmy holding hands with Amy.  :P

 Happy effing Birthday to me!  I’m now too old; 26 years to be exact, and am ready for the old folks home.  My birthday was last Saturday and it was a great one but for some reason, I did not like turning 26 at all.  It bothered me.  None of the others have too much…  I did have a fun day though.  Woke up late, was served breakfast in bed (Waffle House bacon, egg & cheese – my favorite!) played racquet ball, went shopping (got the cutest Guess dress), dinner and then out to the bars with my girl.  I haven’t done my “crazy” birthday activity yet, which I plan on doing hopefully in the next month or so.  Last year I promised myself I’d have to do one height related activity each year on my b-day to help me get over my fear.  I want to go hang gliding.  There’s a company at Lookout Mountain, GA that will take you up (I think around 2,000 feet) with a small single engine plane and let you glide down with an instructor.  It’s about $150 and as soon as I have it, I’m going!

 I imagine that will be pretty terrifying but an amazing view.  AND the best part is that they take pictures up there, so I can share my experience with the world.  It’d be nice if I could take my own camera but I doubt that will happen.

Mal and I on 26th bday

 Here’s my very best friend and I in Little 5 Points, Star Bar.  We partied like rockstars and my car wasn’t towed thank goodness.  All in all, I had a wonderful day.  Bye 25, I will miss you something terrible!

p.s. If the Universe is finite, I will see you again.

It’s been a little while since I posted so I decided to do my lunch break at Panera (plug) and get in some quality blogging time. I’ve been a few places recently, traveled to the Smokey Mountains for the 4th of July with Jason and to Savannah/Tybee Island with my lil’ sis. Both trips were amazing. It’s kinda nice to live in Atlanta because it’s 3 hours to some of the most gorgeous mountains in the South, 3 hours to the beach, not to mention it’s a huge metropolitan city with tons of different things to do and lovely weather. I would like to live somewhere else though eventually as I’ve lived here all my life…

The Smokey Mountains were relaxing. And we had a time playing in the mountain streams! We arrived in Gatlinburg July 3rd and got a little room right off the main road. We had a sample of beers at a local brewery and then headed down to the Peddler Steakhouse (which has to be one of the best meals I’ve ever had!) They had the best salad bar… we dined on filet, NY strip and an entire bottle of wine right by a pretty mountain river. Our waitress was a sweetheart (I ended up running into her on Tybee Island just a few weeks later!!) and she gifted us with a large piece of pecan cheesecake. After the restaurant, we wandered aimlessly around the streets of Gatlinburg in a drunken stupor, did more shots, laughed at locals, ate our cheesecake and passed out. Such a fun evening. :) I have pics at home, I will have to edit this entry and post a few later on…

Savannah was a blast – we stayed at a hotel called the “Thunderbird” that was pretty interesting. It was an old 60’s themed roadside hotel with a receptionist/Elvis impersonator. We had dinner at the Chart House restaurant on River Street where I treated my boo to Cesar salad, shrimp, crab cakes, several sides and a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream w/ mocha chocolate topping. We had the most fun at the beach.  OH, if you want to eat at Paula Deens, make sure to reserve WAY in advance b/c we tried to go on a Sunday and there was a 4-6 hour wait.  Yikes!

There’s just something about adults dressing up in costume to play with small children that kinda gives me a creepy feeling…  not quite sure why I have these feelings?  Santa’s the worst, what a perv!

Appreciate Christmas for what it really means and forget all the material bullshit that comes with it such as the gifts, who has the best tree or the best decorations.  Visit your family and friends and be thankful that we have each other, that’s the best gift.  I can’t wait to see my little Sister!  Her smiling little face will be my happiness this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas World!

“Politically correct” T’was the Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas and Santa’s a wreck…
How to live in a world that’s politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to “Elves”.
“Vertically Challenged” they were calling themselves.
And labor conditions at the north pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.

Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society.
And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.

So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!

funny-santa

The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops.

Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur trimmed red suit was called “Unenlightened.”

And to show you the strangeness of life’s ebbs and flows,
Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose
And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in over-due compensation.

funny-santa2

So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
Who suddenly said she’d enough of this life,
Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.

And as for the gifts, why, he’d ne’er had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.
Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.

Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot.
Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls. Or just for the boys.

Nothing that claimed to be gender specific.
Nothing that’s warlike or non-pacific.

No candy or sweets…they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden.

For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.

No baseball, no football…someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.
Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.

So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.

He tried to be merry, tried to be gay,
 you’ve got to be careful with that word today.
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.

Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.
A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;

Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere…even you.
So here is that gift, it’s price beyond worth…
“May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth.”

It was a success!  We managed to plan a nice party without anyone on the committee being killed… ;)

Is the mystery and the miracle of God’s great, creative hand.

December!  Christmas time is here.

One of my favorite times of the year!  Besides spring of course… People are happy and snuggled up in fuzzy sweaters in front of a glowing fire.  My eyes catch the beautiful, sparkly lights glistening all around town.  Decorations come out and the smell of Christmas trees tickle my nose.  The taste of gingerbread, eggnog and cider melts deliciously on my tongue.  All these things excite my senses.

But this time of year always brings about extreme emotions.  Immeasurable happiness and unspeakable pain.  I have so many joyous memories as well as horrifying recollections.  My father passed Dec. 15th, just a few days before Christmas.  Maybe Christmas for me is a time for remembering the past (good & bad times) and embracing the future for every surprise it may hold.  Another year has passed and lives have changed for the better, for the worse?  Who knows or cares.

As long as it changes and you live another day.  Another journey.  What an adventure!

Looking for a “different” Christmas getaway?  Well I have just the place for you!  Sweden’s very own Ice Hotel is making a grandeur appearance with beautiful sculptures, restaurants, bars and even a bed made of solid ice.  The magical suites are unlike any other.  Colored lights warmly glow through the crystal walls and dinner is served to you on nothing more than an ice plate.  You have a choice to stay in the “warm suites or the “ice suites.”  With my sense of adventure, there’s no question as to where I would be.  But it’s nice to know that if you get sick of the cold, there’s warm lodging nearby.

I had a perfect weekend!  Friday night I visited the Westin’s Sundial rotating bar and restaurant, had a nice cabernet while gazing at Atlanta’s twinkling lights from below.  Saturday night we went to Atlantic Station to check out Dialogue in the Dark, an exhibition that simulates blindness.  It was MAGNIFICENT!  You go into a room w/ small group and they give you the poles visually impaired individuals use.  Then you sit on a lit cube for a few minutes before the room goes pitch black.  You cannot even see your hand in front of your face.

A guide enters the room, explains a few rules and tells you to follow her voice at which point you enter a HUGE area that replicates a park.  You are running into bushes, trees, fences, mailboxes, people, rocks… anything you would find in a park/yard.  I managed to get stuck in between a fence and brick wall.  The guide called for us to go to the next room, so with my dress on; I had to hop the fence to catch up with my group.  Whomever operated the infrared cameras had a nice view that night!

After that experience you get to visit a grocery store, dock with a boat ride, a street and then a bar where you can purchase drinks, all in total darkness.  Be prepared for groping, stalkers, laughing, bruises and an overall fun time.  I wouldn’t mind going again.

The best part of the entire experience was speaking with the tour guide after it was over.  We learned that she was actually blind (we thought she had infrared vision the entire time) and that all of their guides were visually impaired.  How awesome is that?  She said “this is my world all the time.”  That just gave me goosebumps.  What a brave individual.  But if you think about it, it’s not so bad.  Her other senses are so much more heightened than a person that can see.  She can experience so much more with her hearing, touch, taste and smell.
