I couldn’t resist… he had it coming. They chase these poor animals around with high powered riffles, deer urine (that attracts horny males), and expect them to just lie down and die? Au contraire, not this guy!
Last night I was privileged enough to have the opportunity to watch Gran Torino, the new Clint Eastwood film about an elderly, prejudice, Korean war vet living in an area filled with different ethnicities. After an attempt to steal his beloved Gran Torino fails, he takes the young Asian boy under his wing (unwillingly at first) and teaches him a different way of life; other than the gang life his cousins are trying to lead him into. Walt (the main character) comes across as a cold hearted, callous individual but by the end of the movie you witness his loyalty to this new family he befriends and his devotion to integrity and honesty. I believe that Clint Eastwood portrays a simple yet genuine character that emits emotion on an entirely different level. He’s not your excessively dramatic soap opera type but rather the type that could be your own Grandfather or uncle. Splintered from years of hard living, working in a factory, scarred by the perils of war and just the typical “man persona” portrayed in earlier years of our Country. Even with all of his downfalls, he manages to shine as a hero by the end of the movie and rid the World of atrocious, vile people in a peaceful manner.
Clint Eastwood is an American icon and this new addition to his already outstanding career is a testament to his brilliant work. Job well done and I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone.
While driving through downtown Atlanta, you can’t help but notice the huge yellow and blue tents constructed right by Atlantic Station. It’s the Cirque Du Soleil show “Kooza.” http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/kooza/intro/intro.htm
A magnificent performance of acrobatics fused with art and music. I couldn’t help but overhear a conversation at work that there were not only one, but two Cirque Du Soleil shows in Atlanta; at the same time! I thought this very bizarre as they would be competing against themselves.
After further research online, J and I came to the conclusion that this other show we’ll humorously title “Peu de Cirque” is nothing but a phony; an imposter! Some highly intelligent individual out of the sunny state of FL decided it would be ok to start a circus that mimics Cirque Du Soleil. But why just stop there? How about borrowing the main part of their name, “Cirque.” Cirque Du Soleil tried to sue for the use of their name but nothing came of it as the courts ruled “Cirque” was just the French pronunciation for “Circus” and that anyone could use it. It goes to show that if you start something that is a success, many individuals will try their hardest to ride your coat tails.
I hope that everyone will visit the Kooza show as it is the real deal and not the generic version. It may cost a few extra bucks but I’m sure it will be more than worth it. I can’t wait to see it!!!
Yesterday former President Billy Clinton visited Clark Atlanta University to help promote Jim Martin’s run for Senate. The crowd was supposedly extremely enthusiastic as Mr. Clinton and Mr. Martin emerged and took center stage to rally the crowd for a hopeful Senate win. If it weren’t for work, I would have been there cheering them on! He must have really loyal fans b/c the temp was at/close to freezing last night. This election is very important for the Democrats as it could be a filibuster to provide a 60 vote Senate majority. Even though I do consider myself a Democrat more than anything else, I’m kinda torn on this because it will give Democrats free range of creating new laws and I do not particularly care for the creation of new laws. It’s a bitter sweet win but I’m just happy it’s not a republican majority ran Senate.
Love is the strangest, most fickle thing. It can be beautiful, horrible, exciting, nasty and simply wonderful. So many people are afraid of this word. Why? It’s simply an expression, a joyful feeling that overcomes you. I can love so many things. A flower, a ladybug, and even the stars. I have so much love in my heart to give, I have to release it. But why does it scare people so?
You are only supposed to tell the dearest people you love them. So many people don’t deserve to hear this word and I think that makes them uncomfortable when the do hear it. They know they do not deserve that emotion. And therefore makes them squirm. I love to love and I love to be loved. Emotions are what separates us from animals. A significant aspect of being human. We have to deal with so much pain but yet we are gifted with this splendid emotion titled love. Thank you God for that offset. We could not live without it!
“I love you not only for what you are, but what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.” ~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
I can only think of one word to describe this video, ouch! Apparently someone mistakenly left their carts too close to the end zone… that’s why it’s important to make sure things aren’t left lying around. You may snap a leg bone! Poor, poor, POOR, man.
I noticed a theme today, myself and at least 3 of my colleagues were all dressed in black. Maybe it was the rainy day that brought the wardrobe coalition on…

Tomorrow is a big day. I’m so scared/excited/angry/happy/sad, all at the same time. I’m starting to think my emotions change like the wind. Oh! Saw V is coming out on Oct. 24th, can’t wait to see it! Check out the below trailer if you’re interested. Well, I’m out! Red wine in hand and ready to party hard, it’s going to be a good weekend. Talk to you guys later.
Family Guy has to be one of the best shows ever! Yes, I’m an immature, cartoon loving freak; so what? You should never take yourself too seriously… I particularly love the episode where Stewie falls asleep in the tanning bed. That pain is so familiar. After he peels, he gets a mole that wigs him out. The Doc told him he’d have to wait 2 weeks for the results to come back. Stewie tells him “Jim Henson waited and now we have weird sounding puppets!” LOL, gotta love that demented, gay baby with a strong European accent and an uncanny desire to kill his Mother. And the Star Wars episode was a classic as well.

Albert Einstein. What an interesting character. A genius that died trying to explain himself, pen in hand while writing his last paragraph. I was having a conversation with my mom and we were discussing his life and situations he went through. His father gave him a compass as a young child that sparked an interest and led to a life long passion; physics.
He was married to Mileva an intellectual woman whom he considered almost his equal. She was extremely smart and independent but Einstein felt that she was smothering his creative flow. So with the money he won from his Nobel Peace prize, he gave it to her as a consultation for their divorce so that he could be free and continue his passion. And that he did!
The thing I loved most about Einstein was his Law of Conservation of Mass-Energy. Two laws merged; the Law of Conservation of Mass and the Law of Conservation of Energy. That matter and energy is neither created nor destroyed. This theory helped me so much when my Dad passed away because even in times of doubt about life after death, I know there is a scientific law that explains energy will continue on. It may be another form but it will continue on. “In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for the support of such views.” Albert Einstein.
What a brilliant man. There’s nothing more gorgeous in this World as the homo sapiens mind. It may be small in comparison to the other marvels in our Universe but it is still amazing.
“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music… I do know that that I get most joy in life out of my violin. ” Albert Einstein
“God does not play dice with the Universe.” Albert Einstein
My favorite Beethoven piece, fur Elise. I can play most of it!
Phoenix Lander never ceases to amaze me…while aimlessly surfing the net I ran across a video the robotic explorer had captured and sent back to Earth. It’s an amazing sunrise from Mars. What I wouldn’t give to witness that with my own eyes or even just from the moon. Astronauts have to be among some of the luckiest human beings alive, to experience something of that magnitude. It’s a very short clip that replays multiple times but here it is, in all her glory. The Sun making herself known to yet another planet in our enormous solar system.
“Star light, star bright
First Star I see tonight
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have this wish, I wish tonight.”
Sweet dreams,
Lindsey
